Lancelee James Trimm Art Exhibition & Sale
detail of Untitled by Lancelee James Trimm, 2009, ink on canvas
Wood Block Center’s gallery will be energized with the dynamic, music- and nature-inspired art of Lancelee James Trimm during Unframed, an exhibition and sale of his work. Hours for the preview on Friday, April 11 are 6 to 8 pm. The opening on Sunday, April 13 is from 2 to 6 pm with additional hours Saturdays, April 19 and 26, 2 to 4 pm. Showings by appointment with Melodee James can be arranged by emailing gourdbox21ljt@gmail.com. The exhibition, on the second floor at 1 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, is free and open to the public. Proceeds from the event will support CiviCure, a nonprofit dedicated to revitalizing the Hoosick area of Upstate New York, that is restoring the Wood Block building.
Lancelee James Trimm—an artist, musician, and writer—passed away in 2010 at the age of 21. Unframed features nearly 50 of his works, including ink-on-canvas pieces, masks, and small sculptures. Known for his striking use of black and white, Lancelee’s work invites viewers into intricate, flowing compositions that reveal new details upon closer inspection. Trees, a recurring theme in his art, reflect his deep connection to nature.
Described by his family as an old soul, Lancelee grew up in Hoosick Falls, NY, where he was an active member of the Hoosick Falls Central School Drama Club. His artistic journey took him to Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY, where he studied music, as well as the Community College of Vermont in Bennington, and The Drummers Collective in NYC where he studied percussion and music. He also performed at renowned venues like Caffè Lena in Saratoga Springs, NY. One of Lancelee’s lifelong dreams was to collect musical instruments from around the world.
Through Unframed, his family and community hope to place his art in the collections of friends, colleagues, fans, and new admirers, ensuring his creative spirit continues to inspire. In addition to the artwork, a book of Lancelee’s writings, An Imprint of Ink, will be available for purchase during the exhibition.
