Wayne Trimm Exhibition Sale
A sale exhibition of the works of Hoosick Falls’ own Wayne Trimm is on display in the 5 Main Street foyer of Wood Block Center during business hours. Information on the sale of these and additional works by Trimm is available there.
Wayne Trimm, born in Albany, NY in 1922, was a wildlife artist, biologist, birder, taxidermist, and hunter who lived in Hoosick Falls for 31 years.
Marrying his love of art with biology, he worked for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) for roughly 40 years. He began there as an artist eventually becoming art director of The Conservationist Magazine.
Trimm created the artwork for NYSDEC hunting and fishing license stamps which changed every year and often contained a hint of humor. With his biology background and interest in hunting, he created educational and visual materials for NYSDEC’s hunter education program as well as national bowhunting education programs.
Many people knew Trimm through his work before ever meeting him and those who knew him described him as always with sketchbook and pencil in hand. While viewing this exhibition, stand back and then close, looking deep into the works for hidden or unexpected things. His art tells a story and focuses on interactions and relationships between birds and birds, birds and plants, predator and prey, etc.
We hope you come to the Wood Block to see’s Trimm’s work. Perhaps it will inspire another type of in-person encounter with nature with a walk on the Hoosic River Greenway just a few yards from Wood Block Center.
